Transfer from Hanoi to Cuc Phuong National Park Journey south along Highway 1 through the provinces of Ha Tay, Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh. Sightseeing Cuc Phuong National Park, one of Vietnam's most important nature reserves. The park's primary tropical forest remains home to an amazing variety of animal and plant life. Continue to journey east in Ninh Binh Province away from the mountainous areas towards the flatlands.

After breakfast, excursion to
"Dry Halong Bay", actually called Tam Coc, boasts breathtaking scenery, with huge rock formations jutting out of rice paddies. Tam Coc means 3 caves: Hang Ca, the first cave is 127m long; Hang Giua, the second cave is 70m long and Hang Cuoi is only 40m long.
Continue to Hoa Lu, the capital of Vietnam under the Dinh Dynasty (980-1009). The site was suitable for a capital due to its proximity to China and natural protection afforded by the region's bizarre landscape. Most of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu was destroyed.

DAY 3 : Ninh Binh (B,-,-)
In the morning, excursion with boat trip to Kenh Ga Floating Village, everyone here lives on boats floating on the Hoang Long River. People row the boats with their feet and the village has a hot spring. Continue to Phat Diem, site of a cathedral remarkable for its vast dimensions and unique Sino-Vietnamese architecture. During the French era, the cathedral was an important centre of Catholicism in the north and there was a seminary here.
