Itinerary (Chiang Mai-Lisu Lodge-Chiang Mai)

Hills and mountains covered in tropical jungle are home to the Lisu hill tribe and their very own way of life. Experience the tradition of the Lisu during your stay at the award-winning Lisu Lodge and enjoy exciting outdoor activities in the beautiful Mae Taeng Valley.

Day 1

CHIANG MAI - LISU LODGE (-/Lunch/Diner)
08h00 Depart from your hotel in Chiang Mai to Lisu Lodge
09h00: Arrival at the Lisu Lodge, a traditional welcome drink will be served followed by a briefing about the program for a day of adventure. Start the trip with 13 kilometers (8 miles) of cycling to the Elephant Camp.
Enjoy an hour of elephant ride through the mountainous jungle scenery down to the river. After a healthy picnic lunch on the bank of the river you will go on an exciting ride, about 45 minutes of white water rafting that takes you a traditional Thai country village.
From there you return to Lisu Lodge either by bike or by local truck, whichever way you prefer yourself. On the way back we stop at the traditional Akha village for a chat with the shaman (spirit doctor).
Return to Lisu Lodge around 4 p.m. and our Lisu ‘guide’ will take you for a walk through the village. You will start from Ton Lung temple to view the herbal garden then continue visiting some local families with a stop for a cup of tea and a spot of traditional medicine at the shaman’s house.
Afterwards visit the cultural centre or so called the ‘museum’ created by the villagers. Inside you will find a collection of typical household items and tools used by the Lisu and Akha mountain tribes.
Evening enjoy a Thai dinner with a traditional Lisu dance show.
Overnight at Lisu Lodge.

Day 2

LISU LODGE - CHIANG MAI (Breakfast/Lunch/-)

Morning Take an ox-cart ride through farmlands and orchards to the Thai village of Baan Pang Mai Daeng – about an hour ending up back at Lisu Lodge.

Notes: A second additional 1-hour activity can be booked at a nominal charge but as a free activity you are welcome to go cycling by yourself and we will give you a road book of recommended itineraries.

Enjoy a delicious Thai lunch. Then Transfer on a “songtaew” back to your hotel in Chiang Mai by private openair local truck transfer without guide.

For your information there are 12 Mountain Bikes, 14 Elephants and 7 rubber boats and 9 oxcarts.
- Elephant riding (1 elephant: 2 persons)
- Rafting (1 rubber boat: 4 - 5 persons)

- In dry season, white water rafting by rubber boats will be changed into bamboo rafting.
