Itinerary (Chiang Mai-Lahu Village- Lisu Lodge-Chiang Mai)

Program : Departs every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday (Chiang Mai to Chiang Mai)

Day 1 : Chiang mai - Lahu Village (L, D)
Pick-up from the hotel in Chiang Mai by local truck (songtaew) for a 1.5-hour drive to the area of Pha Mieng. Then walk through orchards and down a steep jungle path to the waterfall and pool of Pha Mieng. Swim in the large pool and then walk (15 mins) to the Lahu village. Afterwards, walk along a jungle trail to the remote village of Hmong Pha Mieng (1.5 hrs.) and meet the inhabitants of this small hilltribe in a jungle clearing. Here, enjoy a picnic lunch under the trees. Continue walking to the top of the mountain (1.5 hours) to visit the Red Lahu village of Pha Daeng. Walk along a mountain ridge to the Lahu village of Kup Kap (1 hour). The view from this village is spectacular, looking south to the valley below or west to the mountain peaks stretching towards Burma. Stay in the Lahu Village with a beautiful and friendly basic accommodation with mattresses, bed linen, hot water and toilet facilities. Enjoy the attention of the curious Lahu village. Dinner and overnight at Lahu Outpost.

Day 2 : Lahu Village - Lisu Lodge (B, L, D)
After breakfast at Lahu village, take an hour walk downhill to Huay Sadhan waterfall with its large drop into a clear pool and continue an hour walk along the nature trail to Mae Taeng Elephant Camp for an hour elephant ride. Then enjoy a picnic lunch by the river and after that experience 45 minutes white water rafting down the river (grade 1 to 2) to the pretty Thai village of Muang Gurt. Afterwards, take a short drive by local truck to the Akha village of Huay Pong where you can enjoy a cup of tea and a chat with the shaman (witch doctor). Then it’s your choice either cycle back to the award winning Lisu Lodge or transfer by a local truck (30 minutes drive). Arrive at Lisu Lodge in late afternoon. Welcome tea or coffee will be provided at the lodge. Time to enjoy hilltribe activities typical for the Lisu activities such as embroidering and organic gardening. Dinner at the lodge and enjoy Lisu music and dance from the Lisu banjo players and village girls.

Day 3 : Lisu Lodge - Chiang mai (B, L)
Breakfast at the lodge and then enjoy “Lisu Lodge Experience” starting from Ton Lung temple guided by Lisu people to visit the herbal garden. Then visit Lisu village and also stop for a cup of tea at the shaman’s house with the introduction to traditional medicine (EWS guide will be a translator accompanying the group through all activities). Lunch at Lisu Lodge. In the afternoon enjoy an ox-cart ride through farmlands and orchards to the Thai village of Baan Pang Mai Daeng (about 1hour). Continue by a local truck (songtaew) to Chiang Mai.
