DAY 1 :
Mandalay-Myitkyina
Transfer to Mandalay Airport for the flight to Myitkyina, the
capital city of Kachin State. The Kachin are one of the largest
minority groups in Myanmar. On arrival take an orientation tour of
Myitkyina, set in a flat and very fertile valley and known for its
fruit and vegetables. After lunch visit Myit-Sone, 45km north of
the city where the Mekha and Melikha rivers converge which is also
the origin Myanmar's longest river,the Irrawaddy. Enjoy the
beautiful scenery before driving back to Myitkyina. Overnight in Myitkyina.
DAY 2 :
Myitkyina (B)
Myitkyina is located in a flat valley that is extremely hot in the dry season and very rainy during the monsoon. Visit
Central Market, a good place to see the local hill tribe people and the wide variety of fruit produced in this state. Then
Hsu Taung Pye Zedidaw, a pretty, gilded, 'wish-fulfilling' stupa on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River. Continue to
Andawshin Paya, larger paya which boasts a silver-plated zedi said to contain tooth relics and a Buddha footprint.
In the afternoon, visit Praying Mountain, a sacred site for Kachin and Lisu Baptists and the location of a bible school and seminary. Continue to
Kachin State Cultural Museum, built in 1994 it includes displays of costumes and Kachin and Shan artefacts, such as pipes, baskets, fishing nets, looms and musical instruments.
Overnight in Myitkyina.
DAY 3 :
Myitkayina (B)
In the morning, excursion to confluence of Maikha and Malikha River.
Drive north by jeep to the confluence of the Maikha and Malikha rivers, that form the beginning of the Ayeyarwady River.
Overnight in Myitkyina.
DAY 4 :
Myitkyina (B)
After breakfast, flight from Myitkyna to Mandalay.
End of services.
