DAY 1 :
Mandalay-Moniwa-Chindwin River Cruise (Lunch, Dinner)
Leave Mandalay for a three hour drive to Moniwa, a typical Burmese
town on the Chindwin River. The Chindwin is the most scenic of
Myanmar's rivers with richly forested banks tumbling into the fast
muddy waters. Cross the Chindwin River by boat and proceed by
local open jeep to Po Win Daung. This extraordinary complex
consists of 947 sandstone caves dug out of the hills and contains
what is considered by archaeologists to be the richest collection
of mural paintings and Buddhist statues in South-East Asia.
Recently opened to overseas visitors, Po Win Daung with its unique
Buddha images and precious frescoes some dating from the early
17th century, is a must to see for anyone with an interest in
Buddhist arts. Board the Malikha Beauty, a simple but comfortable
cruise boat accommodating up to 14 passengers in air-conditioned
twin cabins. Overnight on board.
DAY 2 :
Chindwin River Cruise (B, L, D)
Cruise downstream along the Chindwin River stopping off to visit
the small riverside town of Yesagyo and Shwetantint, an ancient
pagoda. Overnight on board.

DAY 3 :
Chindwin River and Irrawaddy Cruise-Bagan (B, L)
Continue on the journey downstream the point where the Chindwin
and Irrawaddy rivers meet just before Pakokku. Explore Pakokku
in a shore excursion by local trishaw. This typical Burmese city
has a strong craftwork tradition producing colourful woven
blankets, papier-m?ch? toys and sandals. Board the Malikha
Beauty and continue cruising to Bagan arriving late in the
afternoon.
