Private tour: Departure from Kuching city with English speaking guide

Day  1
KUCHING BATANG AI (-/Lunch/Diner)
Pick up from the city hotel, you will travel 290 km with some stops along the way, the first one at the town of Serian, where you will stop for refreshments. You may wish to make some last minute shopping, for insect repellent of gifts for the Iban in the longhouse.
You can also visit a fascinating native fruit and vegetable market.
The other stop includes a visit to a pepper farm and a stop at a place where you can observe wild orchids and pitcher plants growing by the roadside.
The last stop will be at "Lachau", a small up-country Chinese village where you will stop for lunch.
Here barter trading held between the natives of Kalimantan (Indonesia) and the natives of Sarawak (Malaysia) is still in existence.
After lunch we proceed to the final stage of our road journey, and arrive at the beautiful Batang Ai Lake. At the jetty, you will board the native longboats. This boat-ride will take you about 1 hour to arrive at an Iban longhouse .
Upon arrival, you'll be greeted and welcomed by Chief and the longhouse community.
Feel free and easy to mingle around with this people with the help of your guide.
Swim in the beautiful and often crystal clear water. After dinner, join the Iban with their evening chores, weaving baskets, mending fishing nets, chatting etc. Don't forget to try their rice wine (Tuak).

Day  2
BATANG AI NANGA SERUGAM (Breakfast/Lunch/Diner)
Breakfast in longhouse, after which you will start your boat trip to Ripien village. Upon arrival, you will start to trek into the rainforest in search of flora and fauna. In the very beginning of your trek will be climbing a hill for 1/2 hour, after which, you will be walking on the wild side of this hill in search of wildlife. For many sanctuaries the Nanga Serugam at Lanjak Entimau region bordering between Sarawak, Malaysia and Kalimantan, Indonesia has been the home for all kinds of wildlife. Here while walking, you may pass Orang Utan napkins (nest), which are built high up in the trees to protect themselves against any predators. If you are lucky enough you may also get a chance to see other animals like wild boar, civets, honey bears, gibbons, deer etc.
Simple lunch, either packed or cooked in native style will be served. After lunch you may proceed further to discover more wild animals and learn about the native jungle supermarket and pharmacy. Late afternoon you will arrive at Nanga Serugam and start to camp. Feel free to take a deep in this crystal clear stream. Dinner and overnight in, simple tents.

Day  3
NANGA SERUGAM (Breakfast/Lunch/Diner)
After breakfast, canoe downstream in a small wooden boat by maneuvering through tricky bends and small rapids if water level permits or trek back the same way to reach Ripien house. Lunch stop along the way. Arrive at Ripien house late afternoon. Swim in the beautiful stream before dinner and overnight in Ripien lodge.

Day  4
NANGA SERUGAM KUCHING (Breakfast/Lunch/-)
After breakfast, time to say goodbye to your newly found native friends and proceed by native longboat down stream and continue your onward journey by road back to Kuching City with lunch en-route.
