Itinerary (Kota Kinabalu - Kinabalu Park - Kota Kinabalu)

KINABALU NATIONAL PARK Easily accessible from Kota Kinabalu, the Kinabalu National Park provides a complex and varied ecological system into a relatively small area. The Park extends from 1,588m above sea level to the summit of Mt. Kinabalu at 4,095m (the highest peak in SE Asia) providing a range of vegetation from cloud forest to mountain forest to lowland forest. It was due to this rich diversity of botanical treasures that the park was recently granted World Heritage Status, along with Mulu National Park, the first park in Malaysia. An extensive network of jungle and mountain trails, plus a wide range of accommodation available make this a necessary part of any Sabah tour.

Day 1

KOTA KINABALU - KINABALU PARK (-/-/Diner)
Depart hotel lobby for a 2-hr journey through breathtaking scenery to Kinabalu Park. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore the park surroundings. Overnight stay at Kinabalu Park.

Day 2

KINABALU PARK - LABAN RATA -MT KINABALU (Breakfast/Lunch/Diner)
Suggestion : Transfer to Timpohon Gate (1,830m/ 6,000 ft) to begin the trek with your mountain guide. ( own account )This takes about 5 hours, with time out to look at the views, birds, animals, soil and rocks of the various vegetation zones up to Laban Rata Resthouse or Gunting Ladagan. (3,290m/ 10,700 ft).
Overnight in Laban Rata.

Day 3

LABAN RATA - KOTA KINABALU (Breakfast/Lunch/-)
Wake up as early as 0200 hours to begin final ascent at 3 am hours. Greet the dawn at the summit (6 am).to The climb will take about 3 hours. ( own account )Witness the beautiful sunrise at the summit.
The stupendous views to be had at 4,096.2m/ 13,432 ft before the clouds rise is well worth the previous day’s exertions; on a clear day, one could almost see all of Sabah.
Breakfast at the Resthouse before descending to Timpohon Gate and transfer to Park HQ for lunch.
Return to Kota Kinabalu (KK) in the afternoon.
