Itinerary (Lahad Datu - Danum Valley - Borneo Rainforest Lodge - Lahad Datu)

DANUM VALLEY - Borneo Rainforest Lodge is located within the famous 43,800 ha Danum Valley Conservation Area in the midst of almost 1 million ha timber concession area of the Sabah Foundation. Danum Valley is the largest protected area of undisturbed lowland dipterocarp forest in Sabah where trees can grow up to 50m tall. The forest is rich with over 200 species of trees being found in one hectare. Danum Valley Field Centre, one of the foremost rainforest research centres in Southeast Asia is 32km from the Borneo Rainforest Lodge. At the Lodge, natural history tourism complements the effort of conservation of the Danum Valley. Guided walks/trekking on nature trails, night drives in the back of open Land Rovers and canopy walkways are organized to view wildlife and high floral biodiversity in their natural habitat. Danum Valley is a Bird's Paradise with 275 species documented including all eight species of Borneo's hornbills.

Day 1

LAHAD DATU - DANUM VALLEY -CANOPY WALKWAY NIGHT SPOTTING (-/Lunch/Diner)
09.30 hrs Depart for Danum Valley by land. Drive for approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to reach Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Along the way, wildlife may be spotted
Arrival Borneo Rainforest Lodge, lunch. Introduction to the forest through Nature Trial and proceed to the Canopy Walkway. Dinner, briefing and slide presentation at the conference room. Night Drive in an open-air jeep in search of nocturnal animals.
22.00 hrs Return to jungle lodge and overnight.

Day 2

COFFIN CLIFF - JACUZZI POOL - NIGHT LIFE (Breakfast/Lunch/Diner)
Breakfast, guided jungle trek to the Kadazan-dusun burial site - 'Coffin Cliff', then proceed with trekking to the View Point for a bird's eye view of the area. Descend to the 'Jacuzzi Pool' for a refreshing dip. Lunch at the lodge. Water tubing for an hour in the Danum River or Trekking along the Segama River. Dinner

Day 3

SEGAMA TRIAL - HORBILL TRAIL (Breakfast/Lunch/-)
Breakfast, guided morning walk at the Segama Trial/ Hornbill Trail, lunch.
13.30 hrs Depart jungle lodge for Lahad Datu. 16.00 hrs Arrive Lahad Datu . Transfer to hotel or airport .
