Tokyo. One of the most populous cities in the world. Tokyo consists of the southwestern part of the Kanto Region, the Izu Islands, and the Ogasawara islands. Tokyo is not only the center of politics and economy of Japan, but also developed as the center of world economy and culture, and it offers a number of must-see places. There are large scale downtown areas including the Ginza, Shijuku high-rise complex and its surroundings that never sleep, Asakusa and Shibuya that starts the trend for the young people as well as unique areas including the computer town Akihabara where electric shops are densely competing and attracting many shoppers from Japan and overseas and the Tsukiji open-air wholesale food market that serves all consumers in Japan.

Osaka. In the Osaka City is the Osaka Castle with a five-layer donjon as its core, on a lawn park that stretches for about 60,000 square meters. During the cherry blossom season in the spring, this park is especially crowded with hanami (cherry blossom viewing) crowd. Osaka's north gate, Umeda, has a gigantic stretch of underground mall that houses many restaurants, fashion and sundry goods stores. In contrast to Kita with Umeda as its core, Minami is an area with core cities Namba, a popular business and shopping district, and Dotonbori with many restaurants on both sides of Dotonbori-gawa River. Minami is known as a town of public entertainment and has many theaters and cinemas.

Kyoto. Kyoto stretches from southeast to northwest in the central and northern Kansai Region (Midwest Japan). You may meet Maiko, young dancing entertainers who walk in long hanging sleeved kimono in the Gion, see the townscape characterized with popular 19th century style latticework, and visit the Nishijin where they weave traditional nishijin-ori textiles with vivid colored threads. The three major festivals of Kyoto are Aoi-Matsuri Festival in early summer, Gion-Matsuri Festival in summer and Jidai-Matsuri Festival in autumn. There is also the Okuribi in five hills of Daimonji, where torches shaping a letter or figure are ignited into flames on the night of August 15, in a Buddhist ritual called O-bon or Urabon-e.

Hiroshima. Symbol of world peace. An important cultural property, Itsuku-shima-jinja Shrine, is located on Miyajima Island. Its symbol is the great torii gate (shrine gate) that stands in the sea. There are other important cultural properties here such as Mitaki-dera Temple and the Fudo-in Temple.  Hiroshima is surrounded by the sea and mountains, and has abundant natural beauty. Here, too, are Setonaikai National Park, Hibadogo - Taishaku Quasi-National Park, and West Chugoku Mountains Quasi-National Park. In Hiroshima City, known to the world as the first city attacked by an atomic bomb, there is the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome to symbolize the importance of world peace and which was designated as a World Cultural Heritage with the adjacent Peace Memorial Park.

Okinawa. consists of more than 100 islands and isles of different sizes and is situated at the southern extremity of the Japanese Archipelago. The features of Okinawa include the inhabitation of many rare living things, such as Iriomote wildcats registered as a natural monument and living on the Iriomote-jima Island. The crystal blue sea with white-sand beaches and colorful fishes dancing through coral attracts vacationers as a holiday resort with many diving spots. Okinawa boasts of many traditional public-entertaining arts of its own that have been handed down to this day, like the Ryukyu dance , the shishi-mai (lion dance) said to have been introduced from China and performed with the mask of a lion with a colorful mane.
