Itinerary (Makassar - Toraja - Makassar)

SOUTH SULAWESI - THE TRAIL TO TORAJA
Sulawesi-once known as the Celebes- is home to an incredible variety of sailing and trading people. Where time has stood still is in the remarkable area of Tanah Toraja, literally the country of the Highlanders. It is unquestionably one of the most beautiful regions of Indonesia. It is a country of dramatic landscapes and the highland people that live here celebrate colourful feasts for the dead. Although Torajans are predominantly Christian, the "Way of the Ancestors" is all- pervasive.

TORAJA EXPERIENCE
(Daily departures on a private basis with English, German, French, Spanish and Italian speaking guide)

Day 1 : Makassar – Toraja (L/D)

Welcome services at Hassanudin airport in Makassar and immediate departure to Toraja. The scenic drive follows the coast to Pare Pare, where we stop for lunch, and then turns inland and up the mountains. Coffee stop at Puncak Lakawang overlooking a spectacular panoramic landscape. Late afternoon, arrival in Toraja.
Dinner and accommodation at the Toraja Prince / Marante Toraja / Heritage Toraja

Day 2 : Toraja (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hotel
08:30 hrs A full day exploration of theToraja Highlands visiting Lemo to see the cliff displaying ancestral sculptures and the hanging graves. Continue to Londa, which has an ancient ceremonial burial place. Kete Kesu is a wonderful Toraja village where we see ‘Tongkonan’ houses and rice barns. It is famous for its woodcarving. Lunch en route.
Dinner and accommodation at the Toraja Prince / Marante Toraja / Heritage Toraja

Day 3 : Toraja - Makassar (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hotel
After breakfast, drive back to Makassar. Lunch will be served in Pare Pare. Afternoon arrive in Makassar. Rest of the day at your own leisure.
Dinner and accommodation at the Pantai Gapura / Sahid Raya / Imperiral Arayaduta

Day 4 : Makassar – Departure (B)
Breakfast at the hotel
Day at leisure until departure
Transfer to the Hassanudin airport and continue your trip to your next destination
