Itinerary (South Bali - Ubud - Candi Dasa - Lovina )

This group tour with weekly departures on Sunday allows participants to visit the cultural and natural highlights of the island of the gods and demons.

The barong dancers of Batubulan are showing when performing the barong dance. While the small villages of Celuk, Mas and Ubud, offers their handy craft, silver, wood carving and painting. A tour around in the Ubud market is not like other market, offering its many local artist, show of their masterpieces.
The Eastern part of Bali is very rich in culture, with visits to Klungkung, and old kingdom of Bali, the Goa Lawah, an temple at the end of a cave and finally a visit the Tenganan an Bali Aga village, the culture and history shows of.

Day 1

South Bali – Ubud (-/-/-)
Depart from your hotel in South Bali. First stop is the village of Batubulan, which is famous for stone carving.
We will have the opportunity to see Barong and Kris Dance show that describes the eternal struggle between good (Barong) and evil (Rangda) and ends with a scene where the kris dancers fall into a trance and kill Rangda.
We then proceed to Celuk, the center of exquisite silver works and Mas for its fine woodcarvings. Enter Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali with many fine art galleries, and a home to a score of local and foreign artists. One of them is Agung Rai Museum of Art which has an extensive collection of paintings by Balinese, Indonesian and foreign artists in classic Balinese and contemporary styles.
Afterwards, you can test your bargaining skill at Ubud art market prior to a visit to Puri Saren Agung whose royal family ruled Ubud from the late 1800’s until 1917.
Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2

Ubud – Candi Dasa (Breakfast/-/-)

We head east to visit Kerta Gosa, or Hall of Justice, built in 18th century in Klungkung. It is beautifully laid out within a moat and provides an exquisite example of the Klungkung style of painting and architecture which can be seen in their ceiling murals.
Continue on to Kusamba, a fishermen village that also engages in the salt making where you will also see colorful outrigger lined up along the black sand shores. The costal road with full view to Nusa Penida will lead us to Goa Lawah (Bat Cave). This cave, whose walls vibrate with thousands of bats, is considered holy, and a temple and surrounding shrines protect the entrance.
Our last stop will be Tenganan, an original Balinese village, a stronghold of ancient traditions. You can see the local women weave the famous “flaming” cloth, kamben geringsing, which supposedly has the power of immunize the wearer against evil.

Day 3

Candi Dasa – Lovina (Breakfast/-/-)

After breakfast, we visit Taman Tirta Gangga (Water Palace) whose swimming pools and ornamental ponds serve as a fascinating reminder of the Balinese rajah’s old days. We then go northwest and stop in Putung to see panoramic view over the eastern bay.
Continue through spectacular views of terraced rice fields to Besakih temple, located on the slope of Mount Agung, Bali highest volcano. It is called the Mother Temple of Bali as it houses ancestral shrines for all Hindu Balinese and a complex of nearly 24 temples.
Our next stop is Kintamani that present breathtaking view over the caldera lake, Danau Batur.Descending towards the north coast we make brief stop at the temple of Sangsit and a look around the former capital Singaraja.
Evening is at leisure.

Day 4

Optional early morning dolphin spotting going out on to the Java sea in a motorized outrigger.
After leaving Lovina we stop at the hot springs of Banjar, the Buddhist Monastery nearby and return to the South via the stunning Pupuan Road.
We take you back to your hotel in Sanur, Kuta or Nusa Dua, or proceed straight to the airport.
